The Kebbi State Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service has seized 4,200 litres of petrol, 46 bags of foreign rice, 88 bales of second clothes, and other smuggled items. The Command also handed over 81 tablets of Cannabis sativa, 138 packs of tramadol to National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in the state. The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has opened negotiations with Super Eagles coach Jose Peseiro over a new contract. “His contract ended in July and we’re now talking to him and his lawyers,” NFF president Ibrahim Gusau said on Wednesday. Peseiro had been on a one-year contract. Gusau said talks were held up because of the delay in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, on which the contract was based. The Lagos State Government has issued a fresh flood alert to residents of some parts of the state. In a statement signed on Tuesday by the Permanent Secretary, Office of Drainage Services and Water Resources, Lekan Shodeinde, the state government called on residents to be wary of heavy rainfall between August 14 and 18.
