President Emmanuel Macron has announced that France would remove its ambassador from Niger and cease any military cooperation after President Mohamed Bazoum was overthrown in a coup on July 26. “France has decided to withdraw its ambassador. In the next hours our ambassador and several diplomats will return to France,” Macron said. He added that military co-operation was “over” and French troops would leave in “the months to come”. A section of the Supreme Court building was on fire on Monday morning, but no casualties were reported, according to the court. President Bola Tinubu has directed security forces to rescue the abducted female students in Zamfara. Last week, bandits raided the Sabon-Gida hamlet in the Bungudu Local Government Area, kidnapping over 24 students from the Federal University of Gusau in Zamfara State. At least 16 people were killed in a coal mine fire Sunday in southwest China’s Guizhou province, local officials said.
