The Sokoto State Election Petition Tribunal has affirmed Aminu Tambuwal’s (PDP) election as the validly elected Senator for Sokoto South Senatorial District. The All Progressives Congress (APC)’s Abdullahi Danbaba filed a petition disputing Tambuwal’s victory, requesting that the Tribunal declare the election inconclusive for failing to comply substantially with the terms of the Electoral Act. The African Union has reiterated its call for a swift return to constitutional order in Gabon and Niger following the recent military coups in the two countries. Nigeria plans to harmonise its taxes and cut over 60 state and federal taxes to less than 10, Taiwo Oyedele, the adviser to President Bola Tinubu on tax reform said. Oyedele noted that the new measure was part of efforts to increase revenue and improve the Ease of Doing Business in the west African country.
