Operatives of the Uyo zonal office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, (EFCC), have arrested 22 suspected internet fraudsters at different locations in Imo state. A film production company, Oakfil Productions Limited, has dragged the National Broadcasting Commission, NBC, before a Federal High Court in Lagos over the recent amendment of the broadcasting code. In its deposition before the court, the company contended that the NBC lacks the statutory powers to make amendments or sign the NBC code. Insisting that the recently reported amendment to the broadcasting code was an act of illegality, the company asked the court to compel NBC to comply with the procedure prescribed by the National Broadcasting Commission Act in making amendments to the code. Nigeria recorded six deaths from the coronavirus on Tuesday, according to official figures. A total of 1,067 deaths have now been recorded thus far in Africa’s most populous country. Nigeria has continued to record daily cases below 300 for more than two weeks with 296 infections reported Tuesday, according to the country’s infectious disease outfit, NCDC. This brings the total number of infections in the country to 55,456. The Federal Government has approved the inclusion of Wondfo HIV I and II rapid test kits for use to stem spread of the scourge in the country. The National Coordinator, National AIDS/STI Control Programme (NASCP) Dr Akudo Ikpeazu, made the this known while presenting the evaluation report on the kit, on Tuesday in Abuja.  “The Wondfo rapid test kit, could be used as a confirmatory test because of its high specification of 99.4 per cent,” she said. The Lagos State Government, through the Lagos State Electricity Board (LSEB), says it is providing solar power to 172 public secondary schools and 11 public health centres (PHCS). The Director-General of LSEB, Mr Mukhtaar Tijani, made this known during a news briefing on Tuesday in Ikeja. The Kogi State Commissioner for Water Resources, Abdulmumuni Danga, is to appear before the Federal High Court in Abuja on a seven-count charge of rape following his alleged assault of one Elizabeth Oyeniyi earlier this year. The Enugu State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) has alerted that 10 Local Government Areas might be at risk of flooding due to impending heavy rainfall. Mrs Nkechi Eneh, the Executive Secretary, Enugu SEMA, gave the warning in an interview while the News Agency of Nigeria in Enugu on Tuesday.
