Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo state has been re-elected for a second term in office on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Obaseki scored the highest votes in Saturday’s Edo State governorship election. The result of the election held in all Edo’s 18 local governments was declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Sunday in Benin, the Edo state capital. The Emir of Zazzau and Chairman, Kaduna State Council of Traditional Ruler, Alhaji Shehu Idris, is dead. A traditional title holder, Wazirin Zazzau, Alhaji Ibrahim Aminu confirmed the death Sunday afternoon. He said the Emir died in Kaduna on his way to London Hospital. Son of the Emir, Aminu Shehu Idris, said his father passed on at the age of 84 after a protracted illness. The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has announced 189 confirmed new coronavirus cases in the country on Saturday.
