According to the results announced by Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Abiru polled a total of 89,204 votes while Babatunde Gbadamosi, his Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) rival, secured 11,257 votes. Four police personnel on elections duty died on Saturday after their boat drowned in Bayelsa State as tragedy marred the senatorial bye-elections in the state. The boat conveying the victims and other officers capsized on its way to Oporoma, headquarters of Southern Ijaw Local Government Area, for the Bayelsa Central bye-election. President Donald Trump has pressed the Republican governor of Georgia to help overturn Joe Biden’s election victory in the state. In a series of tweets, he urged governor Brian Kemp to call a special session of the state legislature. An unidentified Nigerian soldier on Saturday, assaulted a young lady who he bizarrely claimed was dressed in a manner he considered indecent. The incident happened around 9:47 am at Oju-Ore in the Ota area of Ogun State. The lady, who was clad in a pair of shorts and white knitted coverup, was trekking on the road when she was assaulted.
