The Nigerian ambassador to the United States of America, Sylvanus Adiewere Nsofor is dead, news media have reported. Nsofor died on Thursday in Maryland hospital, Washington DC at the age of 85. Nsofor, a retired justice of Nigeria’s Court of Appeal, assumed office as Nigeria’s ambassador to the United States on November 13, 2017. A Nigerian man who is set to wed in January 2021 has been arrested with 14.4kg of cocaine which he attempted to smuggle from Brazil. The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) arrested the 32-year-old man, Elechi Adendu Kingsley, for attempting to bring cocaine into the country from Brazil. Kingsley, who has been living in Brazil for the past 13 years, was caught with 14.4kg of cocaine at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja. The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) announced 675 confirmed new coronavirus cases in the country on Thursday. The 675 cases announced by the Centre for Disease Control takes the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases to 71,344.
