Scientists have found viruses similar to the strain that causes Covid-19 can survive on commonly-worn fabrics for up to three days. The study by De Montfort University in Leicester tested a model coronavirus on polyester, polycotton and 100% cotton. The results suggested polyester posed the highest risk. Microbiologist Dr Katie Laird, who led the study, said the materials, commonly used in healthcare uniforms, posed a transmission risk. The study saw droplets of the virus added to the fabrics. Apple has acquired about 100 companies over the last six years, the company’s chief executive Tim Cook has revealed. That works out at a company every three to four weeks, he told Apple’s annual meeting of shareholders on Tuesday. A divorce court in Beijing, China has ordered a man to compensate his wife for the housework she did during their marriage, in a landmark ruling. The woman will receive 50,000 yuan ($7,700; £5,460) for five years of unpaid labour. A 23-year-old Nigerian student, Oyindamola Akinrinola, has been convicted for her role in fraud schemes that targeted victims across the United States. The college student of Lawrence, Kansas, pleaded guilty in federal court for receiving and transferring illicit funds on commission on behalf of a Nigerian co-conspirator. The Senate on Wednesday approved the sum of N11,352,457,101.70 as budget for Nigeria Police Trust Fund in the 2020 fiscal year. The approval came following consideration of the harmonized report of the Senate and House of Representatives Committee on Police Affairs.
