Gunmen suspected to be bandits have attacked the convoy of Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom. The incident happened on Saturday at Tyo Mu along Makurdi/Gboko road in Makurdi Local Government Area of the state. Briefing journalists, Ortom, who described the gunmen as ‘herdsmen’, said about 15 of the attackers trailed him to the river bank where he was on foot. Ondo State Governor, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, has approved payment of Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) fees for 25,736 students in public schools across the state. Akeredolu who directed that the money be “paid directly to WAEC and to be receipted for” approved the payment in a memo signed by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education and Technology, Mrs Lola Amuda dated March 17, 2021. No fewer than thirteen people have been killed and seven others injured by bandits during separate attacks in Zango Kataf, Chikun, and Kauru local government areas of Kaduna state.
