The federal minister for communication and digital economy, Dr. Isa Pantami has debunked recent reports that he said Nigerians without National identification Number (NIN) risk up to 14 years in prison. The Federal Government says it has so far enrolled 51million citizens for the National Identification Number (NIN) as at March 31, 2021. Minister of Communication and Digital Economy, Dr Isa Pantami, made this known at the weekly Presidential Media briefing organized by the Presidential Communication Media Team in Abuja on Thursday. He also revealed that about 189 million subscribers of the Identification Module (SIM) had been registered in the country. The Ekiti State Council of Traditional Rulers has described as untrue the alleged plan by government to cede portions of land to some people for ranching and grazing. The clarification is contained in a statement issued by Chief Ajibade Olubunmi, Media Adviser to Oba Adebanji Alabi, the Alawe of Ilawe and Chairman of the council. According to the statement, Gov. The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) on Thursday began the vaccination of members of the FCT chapter of the NUJ against COVID-19. Malam Abubakar Sani, Senior Special Assistant on Media and Strategic Communications to the FCT Minister, Malam Muhammad Bello, inaugurated the exercise at the NUJ Secretariat in Abuja. Nigerians who fail to enroll for the National Identity Number (NIN) risk between seven to 14 years imprisonment, the Minister of Communication and Digital Economy, Dr Isa Pantami, has said.
