At least two persons suspected to be kidnappers have been killed by operatives of Oyo state Amotekun corps. According to reports, the suspects were killed in an attempt to kidnap some residents of Iwere-Ile town on Friday. Fortunately, Amotekun operatives were mobilized to the area and engaged the hoodlums in a gunbattle. Three hoodlums escaped with bullet wounds while two of the suspects were killed on the spot. The National Association of Resident Doctors (NARD) has embarked on a nation-wide strike which is to commence on August 2, 2021. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested Senator Bukola Saraki, President of the 8th Senate over allegations of theft and money laundering. The former governor of Kwara state, was detained on Saturday, Premium Times sources familiar with the development said, a situation that may trigger another episode of troubles for the politician. Transcorp Hotels Plc has revealed its un-audited financial statements for the half year ended June 30, 2021. According to the results which were published on the Nigerian Exchange Group, the revenue of the comapany increased by 84% to N8.4bn from N4.5bn in June 2020. Two gunmen have been killed by men of the Nigeria police, Imo state command. According to Imo state commissioner of police, Mr Abutu Yaro, the gunmen were killed when policemen intercepted them on their way to launch an attack on Njaba town in the early hours of Saturday. One AK-47 rifle, acombat vehicle and 10 rounds of live ammunition were recovered after the gun battle. Envisaging their defeat, the other gunmen ran into the nearby forest. The kidnappers of Bethel Baptist High school students have asked for another N50 million ransom for the rest of the students to be released.
