A chieftain of the Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF), Alhaji Mohammed Sani Soba, has been confirmed dead after he collapsed in the head office of the northern association. Alhaji Soba was a retired permanent secretary from the services of the Kaduna state government. The unfortunate incident was confirmed by the National Publicity Secretary of the ACF, Emmanuel Yawe in a statement on Monday night. At least four persons have been confirmed dead after an attack by Fulani herdsmen at Renwienku village of Miango District in Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau state. Reports say that the victims who were all male, were slaughtered in the early hours of Monday morning. The incident was confirmed by the President of Irigwe Development Association, Mr Robert Ashi Dodo. Mr Dodo added that the assailants came to attack a second time when the villagers were on their way to bury their slain relatives. A 22-year-old member of the National Youths Service Corps (NYSC), Arnold Maniru has been apprehended by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for shipping in over 4kg of laced candies from the United Kingdom. The arrest was announced in a statement by the NDLEA Director, Media and Advocacy, Femi Babafemi, in a statement released on Monday. The Federal Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Dr. Isa Ali Pantami has been conferred the title of professor of cyber security by the governing council of Federal University of Technology Owerri (FUTO). Dr Pantami was among seven associate professors (readers) who were promoted at the university’s 186th meeting. President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the establishment of a Health Sector Reform Committee which will oversee the development and implementation of a Health Sector Reform programme for Nigeria in collaboration with the State Governments and the FCT administration. The establishment of the programme comes after a Health Sector Diagnostic Review Report developed by a consultant, Vesta Healthcare Partners and the Federal Ministry of Health. Controversial Islamic cleric, Sheikh Ahmad Gumi has urged the Federal Government to consider a blanket amnesty for bandits terrorising Northern Nigeria, just like it was done for the Niger-Delta militants. Gumi said that the terrorists will continue to wreak havoc in the Northwest until a blanket amnesty is approved for the assailants.
