The former traditional ruler of Aguleri, Anambra State, Alex Edozieuno, and his driver, Chukwuemeka have been gruesomely killed by some unknown gunmen. It was gathered that the duo were waylaid and killed at Otuocha, Anambra East Local Government Area in the early hours of Friday. Edozieuno was dethroned last year after he eleven other monarchs with an oil magnate, Prince Arthur Eze, to visit President Muhammadu Buhari, without taking permission from the government. Governor Yahaya Inuwa of Gombe State has pleaded with both Lagos and Rivers state to back down on their move to implement state administration of Value Added Tax (VAT) across the country. Guinea’s military Junta has come under under diplomatic pressure as the African Union suspended the West African country over last weekend’s coup. Mediators who met ousted president Alpha Condé affrimed that he was in good health. A man has been arrrested for presenting himself falsely as a lawyer before a Magistrate Court in Osogbo, Osun State. It was gathered that the fake lawyer, identified as Babatunde had been practising for over 10 years. Babatunde was charged by the police in a case file number: MOS/152C/2021. According to a statement by the Publicity Secretary of the Nigerian Bar Association, Osogbo branch, Dawood Ajetunmobi, the Ministry of Justice has taken over the case from the police, to ensure proper prosecution of the impersonator. The International Press Centre (IPC), Lagos chapter, has condemned the gruesome murder of Chukwu Odiahu, an engineer who worked for the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), Okene, Kogi State. It was gathered that Odiahu, a worker in the engineering department at NTA booster station, Okene was stoned to death by yet-to-be identified assailants on his way home from work on Tuesday evening. The Uyo Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission EFCC, has secured the conviction of Prosper Idongesit Mfon (alias Steve Wagner), Edidiong Akpan Udoyen (aka Janet Franklin) and Warri Poweide Joshua (alias Joyce Martins), before Justice Stephen Dal Yop Pam of the Federal High Court, Port Harcourt, Rivers State for offences bordering on internet fraud. The Court of Appeal, Abuja Division, on Friday stopped Rivers and Lagos Governments from going ahead to being the collection of Value Added Tax, VAT in their various states. The appellate ordered the Rivers Government, the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) and the Attorney-General of the Federation to maintain status quo, pending the hearing and determination of applications before it in respect of the Valued Added Tax (VAT). The Uyo Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission EFCC, on Thursday September 9, 2021 arrested thirty three (33) suspected internet fraudsters during a sting operation at different locations in Calabar, Cross River state.
