Justice Sikiru Oyinloye of the Kwara State High Court sitting in Ilorin has imposed one-year imprisonment on one of the players of Ibrafix Football Club, Ilorin, Baraye Bamidele Saoban, for offences bordering on love scam. Baraye, 25, who hails from Ilorin, was jailed alongside one Adaraloye Ezekiel, a native of Osi, Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State, for similar offence. Twenty- five suspected oil thieves handed over to the Port Harcourt Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, by the Nigerian Navy, Forward Operating Base, Bonny Island, Rivers State, are being quizzed for their alleged involvement in illegal oil bunkering. Chairman of the Senate Committee on Finance, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, has revealed that a huge part of Nigeria’s total debt profile roughly estimated at N33 trillion was incurred by previous administrations dating back to the military era. President of the Senate, Ahmad Lawan, on Wednesday announced the constitution of a Conference Committee on the Electoral Act (Amendment) Bill, 2021. The announcement was made at the start of plenary. The Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami has revealed that the Boko Haram sponsors exposed by the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have been identified and detained. The Federal Government has stated that it may seek fresh legal action against embattled Yoruba Nation agitator, Sunday Adeyemo (also known as Sunday Igboho). The latest development comes after the judgment of Oyo State High Court which awarded N20 billion in damages in Igboho’s favour. The director of Information Technology, Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Rukiya Mohammed, on Wednesday said the apex bank has concluded plans to launch the Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC) on October 1.
