He was later directly addressed by the cast. Word spread on social media that Pence was in the house for the hit Broadway show, and during the curtain call, cast member Brandon Dixon, who portrays Aaron Burr, directly addressed Pence. His address of Pence, might perhaps set the tone of what the Donald Trump administration should expect or maybe not. Addressing Pence, Dixon said: “Vice President-elect Pence, we welcome you and we truly thank you…

RB Leipzig went top of the Bundesliga after coming from behind to beat Bayer Leverkusen in a thrilling game. Kevin Kampl gave Leverkusen an early lead but Julian Baumgartlinger’s own goal levelled the score. Julian Brandt restored the hosts’ lead but Hakan Calhanoglu had a penalty saved when he could have made it 3-1. Leipzig took advantage and Emil Forsberg ran from his own half to fire home an equaliser before Willi Orban headed a late winner. The controversial club, who have now won six league games in a row, have became the first promoted team to go 11 games…
Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has denied telling his players to refrain from having sex after midnight. Midfielder Samir Nasri, who is out on loan at La Liga side Sevilla, claimed Guardiola imposed the rule so players get “a good night’s sleep”. But the former Barcelona coach, 45, denied the claim and even encouraged his players to have more sex. “It is impossible to play good football if you don’t make sex with your partner,” said Guardiola. Frenchman Nasri had not been allowed to train with the main group of City players during pre-season because he had returned overweight. He…
Donald Trump has settled three Trump University lawsuits for $25m (£20m), the New York Attorney General has said. The US president-elect was being sued by former students who paid $35,000 (£28,000) for real estate “secrets” from his “hand-picked” instructors. Trump had repeatedly said he would not settle the class-action lawsuits. Attorney General Eric Schneiderman said the settlement was a “stunning reversal” by Trump and a “major victory” for victims. But Trump’s lawyer Daniel Petrocelli said his client was pleased with the outcome, saying “he was willing to sacrifice his personal interests, put this behind him, and move forward”. The businessman…
At least 365 migrants have drowned in the Mediterranean this week in six sinkings, bringing the death toll so far this year to 4,636, already 1,000 more than in all of 2015, the International Organization for Migration said on Friday. Migrants, mainly from West Africa, are taking to the sea from Libya in flimsy rubber boats, trying to reach Italian islands and Europe, where they have little hope of being granted asylum, IOM spokesman Leonard Doyle said. “This is really a calamity in plain sight,” Doyle told a news briefing. “We are seeing really tragic scenes of rubber rafts going…

Others were: Telecommunications and Postal Offences Amendment Act, 2016; The National Agricultural Land Development Authority Amendment Act 2016; The Produce Enforcement of Export Standards Amendment Act 2016. The Central Bank of Nigeria will peg its benchmark interest rate at 14 per cent at its November 22 meeting with an aim to restore flagging investor confidence and an eye on rapidly-rising inflation, a Reuters poll found on Friday. These two concerns will take precedence over stimulus for the battered oil-exporting economy, badly hit by recession in large part from the collapse in crude prices. The poll, taken this week, suggests the risk is rates may rise again. Ten of the 15 analysts surveyed said rates will be kept on hold on Tuesday, but three forecast a 100 basis…
By Nicholas Ojo-Awo For football fans, especially those following the top European leagues, this weekend is going to be nothing short of a block buster. Atletico Madrid vs Real Madrid, Borussia Dortmund vs Bayern Munich, Inter Milan vs AC Milan, Wolfsburg vs Shalke 04 but the greatest pick of the litter should be Manchester United vs Arsenal. Take a pause to give credence to the early years of the English premier league when these two teams were perennial winners or runners up, from the great teams of Sir Alex Ferguson embodied by the historic treble win of 1999 and those…
Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho says he gets “no respect” from the media despite his managerial record. The Portuguese was criticised for his treatment of defenders Chris Smalling and Luke Shaw this season and for a run of four league games without a win. Mourinho has won three Premier League titles with Chelsea during two spells, and has won the Champions League twice. United host Arsenal on Saturday and Mourinho claims the media have more respect for Gunners boss Arsene Wenger. Mourinho publicly questioned Smalling and Shaw for missing the 3-1 win at Swansea earlier this month and suggested that…
