The Senate President, Bukola Saraki, has said that the senate would commence investigation into the recent killings in southern Kaduna State. Mr. Saraki made the announcement in a statement signed by his Special Assistant on New Media, Bamikole Omishore, in Abuja on Tuesday. Mr Adeola Oloko, the media aide to the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Saliu Adetunji, says the reported removal of the Iyaloja of Ibadanland, Chief Labake Lawal, has not been presented to the traditional ruler for his assent. In a historic move, Senegal’s lawmakers have approved legislation which reserves 15 parliamentary seats for nationals living abroad. But the opposition is opposed to the plan, saying it will mount a court challenge to try and scrap the law. The Chairman of the Gambian Electoral Commission has fled the country following threats to his life, his nephew said on Tuesday. Alieu Momar Njai had declared Adama Barrow the winner of the Dec. 1 presidential election, but President Yahya Jammeh has refused to relinquish power, challenging the election results in court.
