On Tuesday, the Lagos State House of Assembly passed the State’s 2017 Budget proposal of N812. 998 billion presented by the State Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode into law. The Chairman, Committee on Budget and Economic Planning, Rotimi Olowo presented the report of the Committtee to the House. The Dangote Tomato Processing Factory in Kadawa, Kura Local Government Area of Kano State is to resume production in February. The company, which began production in Feb. 2016, had to suspend operation due to lack of enough raw materials. The Managing Director of the company, Alh. Abdulkadir Kaita, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Tuesday in Kano that preparation for production to resume was at an advanced stage. Interior minister Abdulrahman Dambazau has warned opinion and religious leaders against reading religious connotation to the crisis in Southern Kaduna. The retired army general said on Tuesday in Abuja that the crisis is between herdsmen and farmers. Nigeria is planning to overhaul about 50 bridges across nationwide, the Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Mr Babatunde Fashola, has said. Fashola unveiled the plan when he was inspecting the rehabilitation of Lagos Ring Road Bridge Abutment and Approach to the Third Mainland Bridge project on Tuesday in Lagos. A bill allowing Israeli courts to force Facebook and social media companies to remove content defined as incitement passed its first reading in parliament on Tuesday morning. Sterling Bank branch in Oke-Ilewo area of Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, has been gutted by fire. Deputy President of the Nigerian Senate, Ike Ekweremadu, has warned against military action in the Gambia following that country’s presidential election, saying such action could threaten the security of the entire sub-region.
