Alhaji Hassan Abubakar, Chairman, Taraba Union of Pensioners, says the state government is owing members of the union gratuities amounting to N14. 9 billion. Abubakar told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Jalingo on Monday that the government owed its pensioners over N9 billion while it owed local governments’ pensioners N5.9 billion. No fewer than five people have been reported killed in clashes between herdsmen and farmers in Delta states. The victims are indigenes of Abraka and Obiarukwu in Ethiope East and Ukwani local government areas of Delta State. Five Nigerian soldiers and more than 15 Boko Haram fighters were killed when the jihadists attacked an army base in the remote northeast where the group has been fighting for an Islamic state, a military source said on Sunday.
