Gambia’s information minister Sheriff Bojang has resigned to protest President Yahya Jammeh’s refusal to accept defeat in last month’s presidential election, reports say. Efforts to contest the results were “an attempt to subvert the express will” of the Gambian people, he said in a statement, Reuters news agency reports. President-elect Donald Trump has named his son-in-law, Jared Kushner, as one of his senior White House advisers. The 35-year old played a key role in the presidential campaign and his new White House job will cover both domestic and foreign policy. Mr Kushner, who is married to Ivanka Trump, is a property developer with a wide range of business interests. Pastor Adejare Adebayo, 61, has been remanded in Agodi Prison Custody in Ibadan by an Ibadan Magistrates’ Court for allegedly cutting off his wife’s left breast with a kitchen knife. He claimed that his wife had cancer on one of her breast. Adebayo was arraigned before Chief Magistrate F. Richard on Monday for one-count charge, which he pleaded not guilty. President Muhammadu Buhari has sacked Jim Obazee, the executive secretary of the Financial Reporting Council of Nigeria and also ordered the reconstitution of the council’s board. Obazee’s sack was announced today in a statement by Garba Shehu, the senior special assistant to the president. The statement announced Obazee’s replacement.
