Ashaka Cement is building a power plant in Nigeria

The Association of Electricity Distribution Companies (ANED) has appealed to the Federal Government to provide the N100 billion subsidy it promised after private investors took over the power sector utilities on November 1, 2013. ANED, in a statement by its Executive Director, Mr Sunny Oduntan also appealed to the government to inject funds into the transmission section of the sector. It said that the inadequate funding of the TCN was responsible for the huge loss and rejection of electricity load. At least four people were feared killed on Monday following a clash between scrap dealers and security men guarding oil pipelines in Isheri Osun/ Ijegun area of Lagos. A tanker, with 33,000 litres of diesel has exploded in Lagos after the tanker collided with a BMW car along Oshodi-Apapa expressway. Naira to dollar exchange

The naira on Monday stabilised against the dollar at the parallel market. The Nigerian currency traded between N380 (buying rate) to N385 (selling rate) on Monday afternoon, maintaining the same rate as at Friday. The naira closed at N495 to pound sterling and N415 to Euro at the same segment. At the Bureau De Change (BDC) window, the naira was sold at N362 to the dollar, while the pound sterling and the Euro closed at N490 and N420, respectively.
