The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has approved the redeployment of 4,072 senior officers to commands across the four zones of the service. The deployment is contained in a circular issued on Tuesday in Lagos by Mrs T.M Isa, NCS Acting Assistant Comptroller-General, Human Resources Department. According to Isa, the redeployed officers are from the rank of Assistant Superintendent of Customs I to the rank of Chief Superintendent of Customs. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Tuesday withdrew a motion before a Federal High Court Lagos for stay of execution of a judgment which unfroze the account of a former first lady, Patience Jonathan. Justice Mojisola Olatoregun had on April 6 unfreeze the account after Jonathan’s lawyer, Mr Ifedayo Adedipe (SAN), challenged the propriety of EFCC’s action. The Plateau office of the Standard Organisation of Nigeria (SON), has warned manufacturers against dumping substandard goods in the markets. Mr Musa George, the State Coordinator, gave the warning on Tuesday in Jos, when he presented Mandatory Conformity Assessment Programme certification to Fekaf Nigeria Limited, makers of Royal Bread and Chocolate. Nigeria’s commercial hub, Lagos State, has redeemed 57.5 billion naira ($183 million) worth of local currency bonds it issued seven years ago, it said on Tuesday. Finance Commissioner Akinwunmi Ashade said the state was paying off its debts to create space for new issuance to raise funds for infrastructure investment. He said the state has saved more than 103 billion naira in a sinking fund to redeem bonds maturing in 2019, 2020 and 2023.
