The authorities of the Federal University of Technology, Owerri (FUTO), have expelled six final year students for their alleged involvement in a violent protest on the premises of the institution. The Registrar of the institution, John Nnabuihe, who disclosed this to The Guardian on Tuesday, in Owerri, said the Senate of the institution met a few days ago and approved of their expulsion. “Six of them have been expelled, including the former student leader. The National President of the Trade Union Congress (TUC) in Nigeria, Bobboi Kaigama, has revealed the grievances of workers who disrupted this year’s May Day Celebration and barred top government officials from delivering their respective speeches. Nigeria troops deployed to tackle militants and criminals in Niger Delta have killed a notorious gang leader, known as Ossy Ibori. One soldier was killed and three others wounded in the operation. The gang leader was reported killed on Monday morning when troops repelled an attack launched by Ossy Ibori on the soldiers.
