The police in Abia State have busted a child stealing syndicate and recovered a three-month old baby. A statement by the spokesman Geoffrey Ogbonna said the criminals were arrested by detectives attached to Ogbor Hill Police Divisional Headquarters, Aba. Two female members – Chinemerem Isaiah, 20, from Nkanu, and Chioma Mark, 14, from Umuobiakwa in Obingwa council, Enugu State, were arrested for allegedly being in possession of the baby. According to the statement, Isaiah and Mark were intercepted after the child’s mother, Rose, reported to the police, and subsequent cordoning of possible exit routes. A new survey by Gallup Poll shows that a record-low percentage of U.S. adults believe that God created humans in their present form. Thirty-eight percent accept the strict creationism view compared with 38 percent who believe man developed with God’s guidance and 19 percent think God had no role in man’s evolution. Taiwan’s Constitutional Court ruled in favor of same-sex marriage on Wednesday, making the island the first place in Asia to recognize gay unions. The court said the current civil code that does not permit same-sex marriages was a violation of two articles of the constitution of the Republic of China, Taiwan’s official name. It said that authorities must either enact or amend relevant laws within two years, failing which same-sex couples could have their marriages recognized by submitting a document. Nigeria’s Excess Crude Account balance dropped to $2.29 billion on May 23 from $2.49 billion on April 25. The Accountant General of the Federation, Ahmed Idris, made this known on Tuesday after a Federation Account Allocation Committee, FAAC, meeting held at the Ministry of Finance in Abuja. According to Mr. Idris, the allocations from the Federation Account to the three tiers of government also declined by N52. 07 billion from the N467.8 billion shared in March to N 415.73 billion in April this year. The governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello, is enmeshed in double voter’s registration scandal, after he was pictured in his office registering as a voter the second time, having already registered in Abuja.
