The head of so-called Islamic State (IS) in Afghanistan, Abu Sayed, has been killed in a raid on the group’s headquarters in the eastern province of Kunar, US officials say. The raid on 11 July also resulted in the deaths of other IS members, the Pentagon said in a statement on Friday. The operation was aimed at “disrupting the group’s plans to expand” in Afghanistan, the statement added. Abu Sayed’s predecessor, Abdul Hasib, was killed in a military raid in April. The Marketing Manager, Truecaller, Ms Lindsey Lamont made this known in the report obtained by the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos. Two German tourists have been killed in stabbings at a hotel beach in the popular Red Sea resort of Hurghada, Egyptian officials say. At least four other people were injured and a man has been arrested. The suspect is being questioned by police to determine his motives, the interior ministry said. The knifeman initially killed the two women before injuring two other tourists at the Zahabia hotel, officials told Reuters news agency. The Interpol, National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency( NDLEA), and other relevant agencies, have seized 881.100kgs of illicit drugs as a result of a joint operation conducted in Sokoto State, as well as the Nigeria-Niger border. The Chairman of the agency, retired Col. Muhammad Mustapha Abdallah, disclosed this in Sokoto on Friday at the closing ceremony of a five-day Joint Training and Operations Exercise, between Nigeria and the Niger republic. The Kogi Government says it expects a massive production of Confluence Rice from the 3,000 hectares of rice farms across the state by December. The Commissioner for Agriculture, Mr Kehinde Oloruntoba, said this on Friday, while inspecting one of the rice farms at Ujoh, Bassa Local Government Area. Oloruntoba said that consumer products of the rice production, executed under the FADAMA III Additional Financing (AF) project, would be available in the market as from December.
