Lagos state government has enlisted seven highbrow areas in the state for demolition to forestall incidences of flooding. The Lagos State Commissioner for Environment, Dr. Babatunde Adejare, in a statement ordered owners of properties erected on drainage channels and impeding the free-flow of water to immediately vacate or risk being ejected. The areas enlisted are Illubirin, Dolphin Estate, Osborne Foreshore Estate, Ikoyi, Osapa London, Ikota, Ogombo, Lekki. Nigeria plans to issue 229.14 billion naira ($728.59 mln) in Treasury bills at an auction on August 2, the central bank said on Wednesday. The bank said it will issue 29.14 billion naira in three-month bills, 80 billion in six-month paper and 120 billion in one-year bills. New diesel and petrol vehicles (cars and vans) will be banned in the UK from 2040 in a bid to tackle air pollution, the government is set to announce. Ministers will also unveil a £255m fund to help councils tackle emissions from diesel vehicles, as part of a £3bn package of spending on air quality. Forty-two girls who escaped from Boko Haram terrorists after their abduction from the Government Secondary School, Chibok on April 14, 2014, have graduated from private schools in Plateau and Katsina States. The recent reported directive by the Acting President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, to international Oil Companies (IOCs) to relocate their headquarters to the Niger Delta region is being mired in confusion. The Niger State Police Command has arrested a 14-year-old wife from Lifari Village in the Mashegu Local Government Area of the state for allegedly killing her 40-year-old husband, Isiaka Usman. Three women have been arrested after they allegedly detained and “raped” a pastor who had come to demand money he was owed by one of them. The man, whose name has been withheld for ethical reasons, is a pastor at a local church and is from Cowdray Park suburb in Bulawayo.
