The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) on Tuesday opened the foreign exchange market with the injection of another 210 million dollars to sustain liquidity. The acting Director, Corporate Communications Department, CBN, Mr Isaac Okorafor in a statement, said 100 million dollars was offered to the wholesale segment, while the Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) segment got an allocation of 55 million dollars. The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) will commence a forensic audit of Oando Plc on Wednesday, contrary to reports that the audit had been stopped following the suspension of the Director-General of the Commission, Mr Mounir Gwarzo. Austria’s top court has ruled that same-sex couples can get married from the start of 2019, declaring a previous law discriminatory. The Constitutional Court overturned a law that restricted same-sex unions to civil partnerships, according to court documents seen by CNN. The Senate Committee on Petroleum Downstream says plans have been concluded for it to conduct nationwide inspection of filling stations over recent fears of fuel scarcity in the country. An outbreak of food-borne listeria bacteria has claimed 36 lives and infected almost 600 people in South Africa, the health minister said Tuesday, warning that newborns and the elderly are particularly vulnerable. Listeriosis is a preventable disease caused by Listeria monocytogenes bacteria that is typically transferred through contaminated food and is readily treatable with antibiotics. A roadside bomb killed at least six people and wounded eight others on Tuesday in Pakistan’s restive northwestern tribal area bordering Afghanistan, officials said.
