Many persons have been feared dead after a 21-storey building collapsed in Lagos State. The building is located off Alexander way, Gerrard Road, Ikoyi. The structure which was reportedly under construction gave way, trapping an unspecified number of construction workers in the rubble. At the time of filing this report, no rescue effort had been made as only a small team of policemen and an ambulance were seen in the area two hours after the incident. Ethiopia’s Prime Minister, Abiy Ahmed, has appealed to citizens to take up arms to block advancing rebel fighters. He made the call on Facebook after the rebels, from the northern Tigray state, reportedly seized control of more towns in neighbouring Amhara.
