Mounir Gwarzo was suspended as Director-General, Securities and Exchange Commission

The administrative panel of Inquiry set up to look into the allegations of financial misconduct by the Director-General, Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Mr Mounir Gwarzo, has recommended the dismissal of the suspended officer from the Public Service. A copy of the report obtained on Tuesday in Abuja by our correspondent, showed that the panel found Gwarzo guilty of violating public service rules and financial regulations. US actor Mark Salling, known for his role in the TV series Glee, has been found dead near his Los Angeles home, his lawyer confirmed to the BBC. Internationally known Russian oligarchs such as those with stakes in top English football clubs Alisher Usmanov (Arsenal) and Roman Abramovich (Chelsea) have been named in US sanctions list. The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the attacked happened at Kadarko, a village in Keana Local Government Area of the State. An elder statesman in Kano, Alhaji Tanko Yakasai has praised late former Vice-President, Dr Alex Ekwueme for his contributions towards national development. Yakasai made the remark in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Kano on Tuesday.
