A total of 22 bodies have been recovered from the rubble of the 21-storey building that collapsed in Ikoyi, Lagos on Monday afternoon. The latest development comes as search and rescue operations by emergency workers intensified at the scene of the incident. Residents in and around Anifowoshe, Oba Akran area of Lagos state have been advised to evacuate the area after a massive gas leak was detected Wednesday morning. Chronicle NG reports that the leak is reported to envelope Computer Village, Awolowo under bridge as well. The Lagos State Physical Planning Permit Authority (LASPPPA) has sealed 67 commercial and residential buildings in Alimosho Local Government Area for contravening the State Physical Planning regulations during a recent enforcement exercise carried out by the Authority. According to the General Manager, LASPPPA, Mr. Kehinde Osinaike, the affected buildings were sealed for offences bordering on non-compliance to building regulations and conversion of residential buildings into commercial use without the necessary authorisation.
