The federal government of Canada is granting fewer refugee status to Nigerians who have crossed the border from the United States. Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s government seeks to dissuade, block and turn back thousands more, according to new data obtained by Reuters. Forty percent of border crossers whose claims were finalized between January and March 2018 were granted refugee status, down from 53 percent for all of 2017.
