Lagos State Government on Wednesday began the final 24-hour construction works on the Alaba Interchange Bridge linking the Lagos-Badagry Expressway to the Apapa-Oshodi Expressway. A correspondent of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on the construction team reports that about 400 metres already completed part of the bridge on the Lagos-Badagry Expressway is being extended by 600 metres. Local hunters have arrested three suspected kidnappers at their hideout near Ossra-Irekpeni communities along Okene-Lokoja-Abuja highway. One of the local hunters who carried out the operation said there was an exchange of gunfire before the criminals were nabbed. An official of the World Health Organization (WHO) on Thursday said wealthy countries donating COVID-19 vaccines with a relatively short shelf life has been a “major problem” for the COVAX dose sharing programme. At least a dozen people were killed and scores wounded in the second day of inter-communal clashes in Kousseri, in the far northern region of Cameroon. The Wednesday clashes were between Arab Choas herders and Mosgoum farmers.
