The Western Nigeria Security Network codenamed Operation Amotekun in Ondo state has rescued five worshippers that were abducted by gunmen during a vigil. The gunmen reportedly attacked a church in Akure, Ondo State capital, abducting the general overseer of the church, three women and a baby. The heinous attack on the church reportedly occurred between 12:30 and 1am during a vigil. According to reports, one of the kidnappers reportedly entered the church and, after a few minutes, brought out his weapon and threatened the group. The Ebonyi Police Command have foiled a kidnap attempt in Abakaliki, the state capital, rescuing the victim in the process. Police spokesperson, Loveth Odah, said one of the kidnappers believed to be the leader of the group was killed by police officers.
