Greece sit 41st in the world rankings and had never defeated Germany in their 10 previous meetings before Sunday evening (seven losses and three draws).
Klopp, 59, was hired on a four-year deal in July, taking over from Julian Nagelsmann, who stepped down after Germany’s shock World Cup last-32 loss to Paraguay.
Since beating Ivory Coast in their second group match at this summer’s World Cup, they have now gone four games without a win.
With this result, Greece climbed back to the top of Nations League Group 2, having defeated Serbia on Thursday and now well placed to reach the quarter-finals.
By overcoming Germany, who are ranked 12th in the world, they claimed their biggest win by world rankings since beating England at Wembley in 2024, when the Three Lions were ranked fourth.
