The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) plans to shut down academic activities in universities in protest over the October deadline for employees of Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) to enroll in the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information Systems (IPPIS). A mother of four, Mrs Kehinde Olakitan, has died at the Mojisola Maternity clinic located in the rustic Onipanu, Ogun State while trying to procure an abortion from a quack doctor. A yet-to-be-identified man of about 30 years who allegedly specialises in picking used diapers from dustbins was at the weekend nabbed in Umuahia, Abia State. Some of the respondents who spoke to our reporter claimed that the man who was nabbed along Ndume, Otuka bypass was picking the diapers for purpose of being used for rituals. The Nigerian Police has arrested one Isiaka Ayobami of No. 2, Ayo Ijaiye Street, Isheri, Lagos, for forcefully seizing a one-year-old girl, Aishat Isiaka, from her mother and hitting her on the ground.
