A man who defiled his two-year old stepdaughter has offered a very bizarre excuse for his actions, Akwa State Police Command say. The man identified as Iniobong Okon Moses of Ikot Amupe Obio Offot, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State who allegedly defiled his two-year-old step daughter said he committed the act thinking she was his wife. A couple have admitted common assault on their neighbour by turning a hosepipe on him in a long-running dispute. Barry and Hellynne Lee, both aged 72, sprayed Harold Burrows with water as he was clearing up debris that washed into his garden from their pathway in June. Magistrates at Llandudno, Conwy county, were shown footage of the incident which Mr Burrows had caught on camera. The couple were given a 12-month conditional discharge. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared the Kogi West Senatorial election, held 16 November as inconclusive with Dino Melaye of the PDP and Smart Adeyemi of the APC, the main contenders. The returning officer, Professor Olayinde Lawal, declared the election inconclusive, though Adeyemi led Melaye with 20,570 votes, by scoring 80,118 votes, while Melaye scored 59, 548 votes. Lawal said the margin between the candidates is lower than the 43,127 registered voters in 53 polling units of 20 registration areas in the zone where elections were cancelled. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared the All Progressive Congress APC gubernatorial candidate Chief David Lyon, winner of the Bayelsa 2019 Governorship election. INEC’s Returning Officer, Prof. Faraday Orumwense, Vice Chancellor, University of Benin, who anounced the result, said APC polled 352,552 votes to win in the election. He said APC’s closest rival, Duoye Diri of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), polled 143, 172 votes.
