Nine passengers were yesterday burnt to death in an accident involving a Toyota Hiace commercial bus at Ijebu-Ife, along Sagamu-Benin expressway, Ogun State. The bus was conveying 19 passengers and heading to Lagos from the eastern part of the country when the accident occurred at about 3:20p.m. on Thursday. The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has confirmed the death of a journalist, Mr Maxwell Nashan, attacked by unknown assailants. NAN reports that Nashan, a young reporter with Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN) FM station, popularly known as Fombina FM in Yola, was found unconscious in the early hours of Wednesday near the station with cuts and bruises. Governor Aminu Masari of Katsina state has signed an Executive Order restricting the use of motorcycles and tricycles between 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. with effect from January 20.
