Vice President Yemi Osinbajo says the increase in activities and threats by terrorist groups in the Sahel region can be largely curbed by stepping up relations between Nigeria and the United States of America. Foreign investors cut their participation in Nigerian government bond auctions in 2019, buying just 4.39% of all bonds issued compared with 10.99% in 2018, a Debt Management Office presentation showed. The debt office said local fund managers bought most of the bonds in 2019, accounting for more than a third of total demand. In 2017, foreigners bought 11.7% of Nigerian government bonds, the debt office said in a presentation to traders. A British prosecutor launched a fresh attempt on Thursday to confiscate tens of millions of pounds stolen from Delta state by former governor, James Ibori who was convicted of laundering his loot in Britain.
