Nigeria’s anti-graft agency, Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has urged the public to disregard emails on contracts, payments from the agency. “The attention of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has been drawn to emails, purportedly sent from info@efccnigeria.org to unsuspecting members of the public between February 16 and 18, 2020,” acting spokesperson Tony Orilade said in a statement. Lesotho’s Prime Minister Thomas Thabane has failed to appear in court to face charges of murdering his estranged wife in 2017. An aide and Mr Thabane’s son say the 80-year-old leader is receiving treatment in neighbouring South Africa. His current wife Maesaiah Thabane has already been charged with the murder. Mr Thabane would be the first African leader to be charged with a domestic murder while in office, in a case that has shocked the tiny mountain kingdom. He has not commented on the allegations. A supporter of the banned Islamic State terror group has admitted plotting to blow herself up in a bomb attack on St Paul’s Cathedral. Safiyya Shaikh, of Hayes, west London, went on a reconnaissance trip to scope out the London landmark and a hotel. A 47-year-old businessman, Omuni Olakunle, appeared in a Yaba Chief Magistrates’Court in Lagos, for allegedly swindling a wood seller of N4.5 million. Olakunle, who resides in Surulere area of Lagos is charged with two counts of theft and obtaining by false pretences. He, however pleaded not guilty to the charge. Police prosecutor, Sgt. Modupe Olaluwoye told the court that the defendant committed the offence in 2018, at Apapa area of Lagos. Following her conviction by an FCT High Court over the alleged killing of her husband, Bilyaminu Bello, Maryam Sanda has approached the Court of Appeal, Abuja Division, asking the court to set aside the verdict and acquit her. The official convoy of the Senate President, Ahmad Lawan, on Thursday rescued five victims of a fatal auto crash along the Onicha-Ugbo – Asaba expressway. The convoy arrived the accident scene in Aniocha Local Government Area of Delta State at about 5:30pm while on its way to Owerri in Imo State.
