Following the death of a Remo Stars FC footballer, Kazeem Tiyamiu, the Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, has disbanded the Zonal Intervention Squad in Ogun. A Bill for an Act to alter section 308 of the 1999 Constitution to extend immunity to cover presiding officers of legislative institutions has passed second reading in the House of Representatives. Justice Okon Abang of the Federal High Court on Tuesday in Abuja has convicted Olisa Metuh to seven years imprisonment with a fine of three hundred and seventy five million naira to the Federal Government. An Ikeja Magistrates’ Court in Lagos on Tuesday sentenced three men– Lucky Daniel, 31; Edward Destiny, 19; and Aliu Abdullahi, 42, to one month imprisonment each for stoning policemen. Magistrate Mrs O.O. Fagbohun pronounced the verdict after the defendants pleaded guilty to the three -count charge of conspiracy, threatening violence and breach of peace. Ten kidnap victims including Joint Admissions and Matriculations Board staff abducted in Kogi last week have been released, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, DSP William Aya, has said. He said in Lokoja on Tuesday that those released included six JAMB staff kidnapped on the Obajana- Kabba road and the NSCDC officers in Alo-Offoke community on the Itobe-Ayingba road.
