The Kano Zonal Office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on March 3, 2020 arraigned one Asiya Bala Aliyu before Justice R.A. Sadiq of the Kano State High Court on a two-count charge of misappropriation of funds. The defendant allegedly collected the sum of N36million from Hadiza Inna Sanusi in the guise that the said money was to be invested in Galaxy Investment Package. The House of Representatives on Tuesday resolved that the National Assembly should suspend plenary for two weeks to enable the management install facilities to screen and detect coronavirus. This was sequel to the unanimous adoption of an amendment moved by the Minority Leader Ndudi Elumelu. Elumelu moved the amendment while members were debating a motion of Urgent Matters of Public Importance on tackling coronavirus by Rep. Josiah Idem (PDP-Akwa-Ibom) at the plenary. The supreme Court on Tuesday re-affirmed its verdict that declared Senator Hope Uzodinma as the duly elected governor of Imo State. The Supreme Court had earlier stood down judgement in the application for review of the decision sacking former governor of Imo State, Emeka Ihedioha. The Ogun House of Assembly on Tuesday passed a bill for a law to establish the Ogun State Security Network Agency and Amotekun Corps. The Majority Leader, Mr Yusuf Sherif, had presented the report of the Committee on Security and Strategy during plenary in Abeokuta. Sherif stated that the committee recommended that the bill be passed as approved by the Conference of Speakers of South West Legislature. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has claimed victory in Israel’s general election, with early results putting him ahead of main rival Benny Gantz. With almost a quarter of votes counted, Mr Netanyahu’s right-wing Likud party has secured 28.73%, the Central Election Committee (CEC) says. Mr Gantz’s centrist Blue and White alliance is trailing with 23.26%. However, exit polls suggest Likud and its right-wing allies might fall just short of a majority in parliament.
