The world will take years to recover from the coronavirus pandemic, the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) has warned. Angel Gurría, OECD secretary general, said the economic shock was already bigger than the financial crisis. He told the BBC it was “wishful thinking” to believe that countries would bounce back quickly. Germany has expanded curbs on social interactions to try to contain the coronavirus outbreak, banning public gatherings of more than two people. In a televised address, Chancellor Angela Merkel said “our own behaviour” was the “most effective way” of slowing the rate of infection. The measures included closing hair, beauty and massage studios. Other non-essential shops had already been shut. Shortly afterwards, Mrs Merkel’s office said she would quarantine herself. Former Hollywood producer and convicted sex offender Harvey Weinstein has tested positive for coronavirus while in prison. He is now in isolation, according to Michael Powers, president of the New York State Correctional Officers and Police Benevolent Association. Weinstein was found guilty of rape and sexual assault last month and sentenced to 23 years in prison. His lawyers have vowed to appeal against his conviction. Weinstein is being held at Wende Correctional Facility near Buffalo in upstate New York. A son of the former Vice President of Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar, has tested positive for coronavirus as the spread across Nigeria continues increase. Atiku, who was the Peoples Democratic Party presidential candidate in the 2019 presidential election disclosed this on his Twitter account urging Nigerians to pray along with the family. The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has announced three new case of coronavirus in Lagos on Sunday evening. The disease control centre said the three new cases of COVID-19 were confirmed some minutes ago. The Center explained that cases are returning travellers and one is a contact of a confirmed case. “As at 05:28 pm on the 22nd of March, there are 30 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Nigeria. 2 have been discharged with no deaths”.

A Federal High Court, Lagos, has ordered Facebook Inc and Facebook Ireland Limited to N10 million to a Nigerian firm, Double Paws Enterprise, as damages for unlawfully interfering with the use of the firm’s trademark. Justice Ayokunle Faji, who presided over the court in a judgment delivered on Friday, also granted an order of perpetual injunction restraining Facebook from interfering with the plaintiff’s statutory rights under the trademark Act.
