Nigeria’s military says it has killed 89 bandits responsible for a series of attacks against civilians in the country’s north-western Zamfara state. The operation was supported by troops from neighbouring Niger and led to the recovery of assault rifles and hundreds of stolen cattle, spokesman Major-General John Enenchie said. He also said five people who had been kidnapped were rescued. The Nigerian military said that the hostages and cattle were due to be formally handed over and tweeted photos of some of the recovered items. A one-year-old girl and a three-year-old boy have been stabbed to death at a home in east London. Police were called to reports of a man and two children injured in Aldborough Road North in Ilford at about 17:30 BST on Sunday. The girl was pronounced dead at the scene, while the boy died in hospital, the Metropolitan Police said. A 40-year-old man was also taken to hospital with knife wounds. Senegal have confirmed reports that they are expecting anti-Covid-19 traditional medicine from Madagascar where the locally prepared potion is being promoted as a remedy to the coronavirus. Government spokesperson Abdou Latif Coulibaly told public broadcaster RTS that Senegal was ready to test the “miracle” drug, officially known as Covid-Organics.
