The All Progressives Congress (APC) has set Saturday, August 22, 2026, for its primary elections to select candidates for four restored State House of Assembly constituencies in Delta and Kogi states and legislative by-elections in Gombe, Bauchi, Delta, and Kano states.
The party announced this in a calendar and program of operations signed by its national organizing secretary, Sulaiman Argungu, and distributed on Wednesday.
The APC said the timetable followed the decision by the Independent National Electoral Commission to reinstate “four previously suppressed State House of Assembly constituencies in Delta and Kogi States.”
It named the impacted seats in Delta as “Abraka, Isoko North II, and Ughelli South II State Constituencies,” while Yagba West II State Constituency was included for Kogi State.
For the legislative by-elections, the party listed the “Gombe/Kwami/Funakaye Federal Constituency, Gombe State”; Disina and Sakwa State Constituencies in Bauchi; Udu State Constituency in Delta; and Dawakin Kudu State Constituency in Kano.
The APC said, “the All Progressives Congress hereby releases its timetable and schedule of activities” for the conduct of its primaries for the restored constituencies and the 2026 legislative by-elections.
According to the timetable, forms will be sold from Tuesday, August 18, to Thursday, August 20, with the deadline for submitting completed forms and associated documentation on August 20.
The party has scheduled the screening of aspirants, publishing of screening results, and screening appeals for Friday, August 21, prior to the primary election on Saturday, August 22.
The APC also set the expression of interest fee for House of Assembly aspirants at N1m and the nomination fee at N5m, totaling N6m.
For House of Representatives aspirants, the expression of interest fee is N1m, and the nomination fee is N9m, totaling N10m. Election appeals are scheduled for Monday, August 24.
The party stated that “Female Aspirants, Youth, and Physically Challenged Aspirants are to pay for the expression of interest and 50% of the prescribed nomination fees for each position.”
It further directed that “all payments should be made in full directly into the designated bank account of the All Progressives Congress.”
The move followed INEC’s restoration of the four previously suppressed constituencies in Delta and Kogi states after court judgments.
The impacted constituencies had been repressed for years, leaving inhabitants without direct representation in their respective State Houses of Assembly.
The APC calendar also covers the approaching legislative by-elections in Gombe, Bauchi, Delta, and Kano states, including the Gombe/Kwami/Funakaye Federal Constituency, where the seat became vacant following the death of lawmaker Tongo Yaya.
