Nigeria’s First Lady, Aisha Buhari on Tuesday told her staff to proceed on leave as part of the Christmas and New Year celebrations.

In a statement communicated by Dr Mohammed Kamal, SSA to the President on Health and Development Partners office of the First Lady Federal Republic of Nigeria, work will continue virtually.

“This serves to inform all staff that the office of the First lady will be closed for the upcoming festive period of Christmas and New year,” the statement read.

“To this end, all staff are requested to proceed on leave, until further notice.

“Please note that official engagements and work can also continue virtually as it was done previously.

Adding that, “Her Excellency appreciates and thank all staff for their commitment and hard work and wish all a happy festive period ahead.”

Meanwhile, another aide to Aisha Buhari has debunked reports suggesting that the First Lady is pregnant.

Sulaiman Haruna said the reports were nothing but rumours and should not be taken serioulsy.

In a chat with BBC Pidgin, Haruna said: “I can assure you 100 per cent that our first lady is perfectly okay.

“She is neither sick nor pregnant as some reports claim. Some of these reports are from mischief-makers who don’t mean well.

On the photographs that triggered the rumours, he said, “You know, nowadays, people can tamper with photos.”
