    Killer masquerade denied bail by Osun court

    The custodian of the masquerade who allegedly killed a muslim worshipper, Moshood Salawudeen during one of its processions has been denied bail by an Osun State Hight Court in Osogbo, on Tuesday.

    The masquerade custodian, Kayode Esuleke and his sin Ifasola Esuleke were arraigned along with two other traditionalists, Kola Adeosun and Akeem Idowu, on September 14, 2021.

    They were charged with 13 counts, including murder, attempted murder, malicious damage, assault, breach of public peace, engaging in a public fight, among other charges.

    The group had been remanded at the National Correctional Centre in Ilesa, pending the court hearing on the bail application.

    At the resumed hearing of the case on Tuesday, counsel to the accused persons, Mr Bola Ige, pleaded with the court to consider their bail application.

    However, the prosecution counsel Mr Biodun Badiora, countered the motion.

    In his ruling, the presiding Judge, Justice Ayo Oyebiyi, refused to grant the bail application and remanded the accused persons till the next hearing.

    Justice Oyebiyi adjourned the matter till September 23, 2021.
