    Super Falcons beat South Korea 2-0 to record first win at the ongoing Womens World Cup
    Super Falcons have qualified for the knockout phase

    The Super Falcons of Nigeria have qualified for the knockout stage of the Women’s World Cup in France.

    Nigeria’s female national team qualified after Chile’s Francisca Lara struck her penalty against the woodwork to deny her side the 3-0 win over Thailand.

    The South American side needed to score three goals and keep a clean to progress to the knockout phase but it was not meant to be.

    The Super Falcons qualified as one of the best four losers in the group phase of the tournament and will face Germany in the quarter-final.

    This is the first time that two African teams will progress to the quarter-final after Cameroon beat New Zealand 2-1 earlier in the day to progress.
