Gunmen reportedly killed two people and injured five others in separate attacks on the Toul and Halle communities in Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State.
Reports indicate that the attacks took place at around 9pm on Sunday, November 1, 2026, when gunmen opened fire on residents of the two communities.
Gabriel Titus, a resident of Mangu who confirmed the incidents to newsmen, said that one person was killed and four others were injured in the attack on the Toul community.
Titus said, “The gunmen came into the community and opened fire on the people.
“Another person was killed in Halle, while one other person sustained injuries during the attack.”
He bemoaned that the attacks occurred despite a curfew imposed by the state government to prevent further violence in the area.
“There is a curfew in place, but the gunmen still came and carried out the attack,” he said.
Titus urged security operatives to step up surveillance and hunt down those behind the attacks.
He also called for immediate steps to safeguard residents of the affected communities, noting that the recurring violence had raised concerns among residents.
Attempts to get comments from security operatives were still underway as of the time this report was filed.
