Galatasaray secured their first points of this Champions League campaign, coming from behind to defeat Lille in northern France.
Striker Victor Osimhen struck against his former club, clinching the win with his first goal in the competition since February.
Seeking to recover from a 4-1 home loss to Barcelona last week, Galatasaray went ahead after only 66 seconds when Yunus Akgun seized on a poor defensive header from Lille defender Alexsandro and fired high into the net.
Lille leveled in the seventh minute through teenage winger Soriba Diaoune, who showed remarkable composure to meet a through ball from Alexsandro, round visiting goalkeeper Ugurcan Cakir, and slot into the empty net.
Galatasaray were given a penalty midway through the first half after Lille goalkeeper Berke Ozer seemed to trip Osimhen, but a video assistant referee (VAR) review showed he had won the ball.
Diaoune, 19, featured in Lille’s UEFA Youth League opener last month, yet he scored his second of the evening and his side’s in the 39th minute with a quick reaction finish after a save.
However, slack marking from the home side let the visitors equalize a minute before the break, with Aleksey Batrakov heading in unmarked from a whipped Roland Sallai cross.
Shaky defending again contributed to a Galatasaray goal seven minutes into the second half, as Lucas Torreira’s header from a near-post corner took a final touch off Ozer to restore the Turkish side’s lead.
Osimhen added to his old team’s troubles by finishing off a swift counter-attack just past the hour mark.
Galatasaray will aim to build on their first Champions League win of the season when they host Stuttgart on Tuesday, 3 November (17:45 GMT).
Lille, who have lost both of their Champions League home games this season after taking the lead, will travel to Norway to face Bodo/Glimt later that evening (20:00 GMT) in search of their first points.
