The African Action Congress (AAC) has officially asked President Bola Tinubu for permission to hold the inauguration of its Presidential Campaign Council at the Presidential Villa in Aso Rock, Abuja, and has also requested logistical support for 5,000 participants.
In a letter dated 21 October 2026 and signed by National Secretary Oshiokhue Philip Ikpeminoghena, the party stated that it intends to hold the ceremony on 11 November 2026 “in preparation for the 2027 general elections.”
The AAC further asked that food, drinks, and other logistical support be provided for the 5,000 expected attendees coming from within Nigeria and abroad.↻ The party said the request was submitted “consistent with the arrangements reportedly extended to the All Progressives Congress (APC) for a similar political engagement.”
“In the spirit of multiparty democracy, political inclusiveness, and equal treatment of political parties,” the letter stated, granting the request would demonstrate the Presidency’s commitment to fairness, equal access, and the principle that public institutions must serve all Nigerians without partisan discrimination.
The AAC stated that it anticipates a favorable response and requested details regarding the relevant procedures and conditions required for approval.
The letter was directed to the President and Commander-in-Chief at the Presidential Villa, Aso Rock, Abuja.
Chronicle NG reports that the AAC adopted Omoyele Sowore, as its consensus presidential candidate for the 2027 presidential election.
The decision was made during the party’s presidential primary, in which members unanimously endorsed Sowore to represent the party in the upcoming presidential election.
Sowore accepted the nomination and called the AAC Nigeria’s sole legitimate opposition party, saying that the party remains committed to providing Nigerians with a credible alternative.
According to him, the party has survived political pressure while being free of godfatherism and corrupt influences.
“While some claimed there was no alternative to dictatorship, we declared RevolutionNow in 2019,” he said.
