The Football Association (FA) has stated that it is weighing up whether to take action after the Independent Commission’s findings against Manchester City regarding breaches of the Premier League’s financial rules.
The FA described the ruling as having “significant implications for the integrity of the game,” but chose not to say anything further while the proceedings between the Premier League and Manchester City are still ongoing.
In a statement released on Friday, the governing body indicated that it was giving careful thought to the commission’s decision and what it might mean.
“The Independent Commission’s decision has significant implications for the integrity of the game. We are carefully considering the decision and its implications and will take action where appropriate.
“As proceedings between the Premier League and Manchester City Football Club remain ongoing, we do not intend to comment further at this stage. We will, however, continue to monitor developments closely.”
The FA’s statement came after an independent commission found Manchester City guilty of serious breaches of the Premier League’s financial rules over a nine-season period.

The FA’s statement came after an independent commission found Man City guilty of serious breaches of the Premier League’s financial rules over a nine-season period.
The Premier League stated that the commission determined City had set up “sham” contracts with commercial partners, submitted inaccurate accounts, and hid the true condition of its finances from auditors and football regulators.
The commission further determined that the club had substantially exceeded Premier League and UEFA spending limits, and it upheld three of the four alleged breaches concerning City’s cooperation with the Premier League’s investigation.
The Premier League has not yet decided on the sanctions for these breaches, and Manchester City retains the right to appeal the commission’s findings. The club has consistently asserted its innocence and is anticipated to contest the ruling.
The FA’s most recent statement does not detail what measures it might take, noting only that it would act “where appropriate.”
The FA’s response came three days after the Premier League released the Commission’s findings on Tuesday, and on that same day Manchester City rejected the verdict, maintaining it was “innocent of the accusations” and pledging to exhaust its avenues for appeal.
